POLITEKNIK MANUFAKTUR BANDUNG (POLMAN-Bandung) previously called Politeknik Mekanik Swiss-ITB (PMS-ITB) established 1976 is the result of bilateral cooperation between the governments of Republic of Indonesia and the Swiss Confederation. In Order to implement the cooperation, Indonesia was represented by Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Swisscontact represented Switzerland. The last Swiss expert left in 1995 as the bilateral cooperation was vacing out. This is the first established polytechnic in Indonesia, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Sjarif Thajeb inaugurated it, in 24 March 1977. Although, the first batch of student entrance PMS-ITB was in the year 1976. The further development of the school was assisted by loans from Asian Development Bank (Production cum Training Unit, TPSDP), World Bank (Foundry Engineering Dept.), DIP (DUE-Like), Indonesia German Institute (IGI Center). |
